- Soap Line - My soaps are cold-process soaps. This means I make them (with lye) -pour them into molds, wait for a day, take them out, cut them. Then the long waiting process begins. These soaps have to cure for 4-6 weeks. What does this mean exactly? After the first 3 days, the lye is no longer in the soap. However, it takes 4-6 weeks for the water to evaporate out. Waiting will produce a nicer, harder, more mild bar of soap. With that being said, it is OK to use the bar sooner, it will just be softer and possibly not as 'nice.' Soaps will include Dessert soaps, and 'normal' square bars of soap!
