What makes up Sweet Treats:

  1. Soap Line - My soaps are cold-process soaps. This means I make them (with lye) -pour them into molds, wait for a day, take them out, cut them. Then the long waiting process begins. These soaps have to cure for 4-6 weeks. What does this mean exactly? After the first 3 days, the lye is no longer in the soap. However, it takes 4-6 weeks for the water to evaporate out. Waiting will produce a nicer, harder, more mild bar of soap. With that being said, it is OK to use the bar sooner, it will just be softer and possibly not as 'nice.' Soaps will include Dessert soaps, and 'normal' square bars of soap!
  2. Bath Fizzie Line- Also known as bath bombs. Stick these into your running bath water, and watch it fizz!
  3. Bath Salt Line - Add a spoonful into your bath for a soothing and relaxing bath.
(Bath Fizzies and Salts will be available December 1st)
All are handmade by me!

How it all began

Back in August my place of employment sadly went out of business. I knew school would be starting in a month, so I was not gung-ho on finding a new job. That got me thinking, "Is there anything I can do from home to make a little money?" I had noticed handmade products were becoming very popular! So I started brainstorming on what I could do.

I know how to knit, crochet, sew -I even bought a new sewing/embroidery machine! I was going to do various baby items; blankets, bibs, booties, anything fun and cute I could get my hands on. I have a few babies in my life (none of my own) and I thought it would be great to be able to make them handmade items, and offer them to others as well. ..Well this kind of went on the back burner..

Then one day it hit me -Soap! I could make soap. I have made soap before with my aunt, and had a lot of fun doing it. You can be super creative with it. There are so many colors, fragrances, additives, and designs to do. When I started doing a little more research I found soaps in the shape of cupcakes. Well baking is one of my favorite hobbies, and I absolutely LOVE making cupcakes and decorating them into all sorts of things. What better thing to do than to mix these two things, and make a dessert soap line. I thought of all the desserts I could make. Cupcakes in all different colors, chocolate pieces, pie pieces -pumpkin ones, apple ones. Oh so many desserts I could do!

That's when I knew what I wanted to do. I came up with the name Sweet Treats Soap, but I thought about what would happen if I wanted to one day add some of those forgotten baby items. They definitely aren't soap! So I dropped the Soap, and now its Sweet Treats by Sarah.
